Skier Information
1. WAXING: We need to have skis waxed and ready to go for the skate relay. We are racing as soon as we get to Valdez. Please pack your skis appropriately. You will be able to wax in Valdez for Saturday’s race. Team wax supplies will be available.
2. Please make sure that your skis and poles are well protected in your ski bag. All equipment must be in a bag. No loose skis/poles. MARK ALL EQUIPMENT with your name- including your bag. We will be in meet with 7 other schools, and it is very easy to lose or confuse your equipment.
3. Don’t forget that we are sleeping in the school, so everyone must bring a sleeping bag, pad, and pillow
4. FOOD: Please bring enough healthy food to get you to Valdez. We will eat lunch en route. The grocery store is within walking distance of the school.
5. MONEY: Please bring some money for food and incidentals. You will need $10 for the spaghetti feed dinner and breakfast the next morning, plus whatever you might want to spend at the grocery store.
6. UNIFORMS: You must wear a Lathrop High School uniform. If you do not have one, wear some purple and gold.
7. Since we are racing as soon as we get to Valdez, please dress so that we can get on the ski course quickly when we arrive.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
To travel you must be healthy. If you are absent from school the day before we travel (January 8), you will not be allowed to travel. If you are sick, please stay home and get well. If you are failing any class, or your GPA was less than 2.0 at semester, you may not travel. While on this trip students must abide by the Lathrop High School Rules of Student Conduct. Please exercise good sportsmanship behavior at all times. You represent your team, school, family, and yourself. Furthermore, incidents involving drugs, alcohol or vandalism will be reported to parents immediately (a coach will contact parents and guardians regardless of the time of the incident). The school will also be notified at the first opportunity both by phone and in writing. Let’s keep it clean, and we’ll all have a great time.

THE STOP IN THOMPSON PASS
We will be making a stop in Thompson Pass on the return trip. This will be a fun time for snowshoeing, touring, sledding. Downhill skiing will be permitted for the skiers who have beacons, shovels, and probes. However, I reserve the right to determine if and where any downhill skiing is safe. That is dangerous ski territory and must be respected.
